To quote ANN: “The Gundam UC anime adapts Harutoshi Fukui’s 10 novel volumes of the same name, which are set in the same Universal Century (UC) timeline as Yoshiyuki Tomino and Sunrise’s first Mobile Suit Gundam science-fiction television anime series and its sequels. Bandai Visual’s first Blu-ray Disc volume for the series will ship on March 12 simultaneously in several countries with Japanese and English dubbing, as well as Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Chinese subtitles. The first of six DVD volumes will ship on the same day with Japanese dubbing as well as Japanese and English subtitles. The first 58-minute episode, featuring the English dub, will premiere in America at San Francisco’s Viz Cinema theater from March 19 to March 25.”

It’s a shame we might not get that broadcast over here on the east coast, but there might be hope.

To quote even more: “Bandai Channel has begun streaming the video on the YouTube website without subtitles in multiple languages.”

Xbox Live has their Indie Channel, we’re starting to see iPhone titles pop up as well, but the place where this movement is most evident is on the PC. This week we take a look at a small title from developer ItBGames called Kino One.

Kino One has great attention to detail right from the start, you can see the developers really wanted to convey a certain style and atmosphere to the game. The first screen you are greeted with is an 8-Bit Department of Justic Seal and a don’t do drugs message. This was something that was popular back in the 1980’s in arcade games, so it’s definitely a nice touch. This not so serious theme is carried into the game’s story, which uses over the top voices and MANGA style animation…”

The guys over at Gnome’s Lair checked out Kino One, and gave it a ‘thumbs up’.

“Kino One can be described, in a nutshell, as the illegitimate child of a classic single screen shoot-em-up arcade game with a late 90s bullet-hell Japanese shmup, conceived after a particularly wild night of sake drinking. This is of course a good thing. Or at least it should be considered one by most indie-minded retro gamers, that tend to appreciate both these sub-genres and the overall anime aesthetic of the game. Especially as some R-Type inspired mechanics have also been thrown into the mix.

After all, Kino One, knows and loves its audience, and doesn’t try to appeal to the casual gaming crowd. It features lovely cell-shaded graphics to appease the little Japanese loving nerd that lives inside you, excellent comic book styled cutscenes, great video game humour, an intricate scoring system, and a brilliant virtual arcade sporting some truly well remade versions of Pong, Pac-Man, Arkanoid and more…”

We Are Fixed!!! That means that all your RSS feeds and stuff should work right now, the blog has been completely reinstalled and all. If you are not 100% sure, or you deleted our Feeds from your system, you can re-subscribe. Also any of you that were registered before need to re-register, because we were unable to keep the old members with the changeover. Other than that we are working again!!!

Well the funny thing is while our blog was down MangaPage released a new game, Kino One(that’s a link to the website). The game is also available via Direct2Drive (click that link there).

There is one simple fix for this problem, re-add us to your feeds. Just do like you did before…click the bookmark button in the upper right corner and re-add us. If you have any other problems with the feeds or anything else on our website, feel free to contact us and state the nature of the problem, we’ll get to your problem as soon as we can.

As you may have noticed the IBGames sites have been down for about a week but we’re back now, so stop your crying. We have had some problems on the server side of things but it’s been fixed now.

Lucasarts may not be an “indie company” but they are some people that revolutionized gaming as we know it, and guess what? They’ve jumped onto steam. Yes, it’s that time! Only time will tell all that they will add to steam, but the games they have added so far are located on the steam page here.

Anywho, the ItBGames Blog has now been changed to IndieOtaku, which means instead of staying completely to indie game news, indie spotlights, and Japaneazee, we’re adding Anime and Manga news, more odd stuff and some extra posting. Ok, yea, I know. You’re thinking “it’s not that much”, but it means that we will be posting on a broader range of criteria ( insert smartiness here ).

If you have any feeds, no they won’t have to be updated, they will do so automatically. If you have us on your Yahoo or anything else they should say IndieOtaku now instead of ItBGames. No permalinks were damaged in the changeover of this blog. Everything will still link the same, so don’t worry bookmarks are still working fine.
